Chelsea’s South American Pursuits: Awaiting Brazilian and Ecuadorian Stars – The Blues Sign Argentine Talent

The London club has unveiled a new center-back.

The South American market has long been a rich source of talent for European clubs, and Chelsea has recently intensified its focus on this region.

In recent months, the Blues have secured deals for promising players from Brazil and Ecuador – Willian Estevao and Kendry Paez. While awaiting these midfielders, Chelsea has announced the signing of Argentine center-back Aron Anselmino.

Born in 2005, Anselmino debuted for Boca Juniors last summer. Despite limited playing time, he caught the attention of the London club. Chelsea signed him to a seven-year contract, paying 19.7 million euros.

The Argentine defender, also skilled as a defensive midfielder, will stay at Boca Juniors to continue his development.

Notably, Chelsea paid Palmeiras 57 million euros for Willian Estevao, who will join the Premier League club after turning 18. Kendry Paez, signed from Ecuadorian Independiente for 20 million euros, will join in the summer of 2025.

Anselmino is the latest addition to Chelsea’s acquisitions, following the transfers of Tosin Adarabioyo, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guehi, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Filip Jorgensen. Departures from the club include Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, Hakim Ziyech, and Thiago Silva.
